The Ghana Taekwondo Federation (GTF) in partnership with the Ashanti Regional Directorate of National Sports Authority (NSA) launched an Ashanti Regional Taekwondo Awareness Programme at the Baba Yara Stadium on Friday, September 25, 2026.

The initiative seeks to promote Taekwondo at the grassroots level and encourage more young people, particularly students, to embrace the martial art as a sport and a tool for personal development.
Ashanti Regional Director of the NSA, Nana Gyama Darkwa, who graced the launch, reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to supporting the growth and development of Taekwondo in the region.

She urged students to take advantage of the sport to develop discipline, mental alertness, focus and confidence, qualities she noted could also contribute to improved academic performance.
President of the Ghana Taekwondo Federation, Mr Frederick Lartey Otu, also encouraged schools to embrace Taekwondo not only as a competitive sport, but as an important avenue for character development, fitness and lifelong discipline.
